Is There a Way to Stop Excessive Sweating Besides Surgery?

By Benjamin Wise

It can seem endless: constantly sweating under the arms, on the face, hands, or soles of feet. Due to its inherently embarrassing nature, it's not a condition many people want to discuss. This silence often leaves them with little recourse and virtually no avenue for treatment.

Instead, this insidious condition (hyperhydrolisis) leads two to three percent of the population down a narrow road controlled by their very own sweat glands. Job opportunities and even intimate relationships are avoided, all because of seemingly unstoppable excessive sweating.

When people think of excessive sweating, they assume that it only occurs under the arms but this is not the case. Hyperhidrosis can occur anywhere on the body from the armpits and the face to the hands and feet. However, the question you may have is what can you do to combat this disorder?

Although surgery is an option for this condition, it is usually only recommended as a last resort option. Fortunately, there are other options available to those who suffer excessive sweating besides surgery that can help combat the problem.

There are other things you can do besides surgery that are, unfortunately, wholly ineffectual but they can help to a degree that can make living with excessive sweating less of a problem. These methods include topical deodorants and electro-shock therapy.

For example there is a product on the market called "Certain Dry" this gets a lot of attention on the forums. The key to any antiperspirant is the level of aluminum chloride basically the more the better when it comes to treating this condition of course with that said always remember the key rule of moderation.

Another key factor to take into consideration is your diet. Be sure to pay attention carefully to situations and environments in which you find yourself suffering from a bout of excessive sweating. By keeping track of environmental factors, you can help avoid situations that will activate the condition. It may be useful to keep a journal of times, places, and environments in which an attack is particularly severe.

Surgery, though a possible solution, is not necessarily the best solution. As such, when trying to combat excessive sweating you should always discuss alternative treatments options as well. Although there may seem to be no alternative, excessive sweating is not entirely uncommon and does not have to control your life.
