Natural weight loss means lowering your daily calorie intake while increasing the amount of calories you burn through exercise; few ever listen to this suggestion. If it were that simple, which it should be, most slimming companies would be out of business; a third of overweight Americans and millions globally, would disagree with this advice. Despite this, most of these overweight people want to be trim again although it is probably more for cosmetic reasons than those related to their health.

The strange thing is though that it is so much easier to stay trim than it is to lose weight because as soon as you start putting on weight, many things become more difficult. Nevertheless weight maintenance is something that has to be worked on and planned otherwise we will put on extra pounds.

For some reason even when dieters who have become used to, and enjoy, a low calorie diet, they eventually drift back to old habits and start piling the pounds back on again. Natural weight loss is possible though and it can be done before you get stared at in the street or cause others problems because of your weight.

Most health experts contend that the significance of excess weight is more than cosmetic as it takes a huge toll on a person's physical health. If you think about it, losing excess weight by natural methods is the most acceptable way to get rid of those extra pounds but too many people want a 'quick fix' system.

Some people worry about what foods they will eat on a natural weight loss program but it is just a case of having a combination of, protein, carbohydrate and fiber. A typical meal like this would be a jacket potato with vegetables and some lean meat, which would be healthy and give the balance you require.

Unfortunately, dietary fat contains higher amounts of calories than ordinary food which when consumed will just be converted to body fat more readily. Another problem is the obsession with fat free or low fat foods that food manufactures are stacking the shelves with which despite their popularity are not stopping the problem of obesity.

One of the greatest delusions of the 1990s was that no fat meant non-fattening but the truth is you are often getting just as many calories from these foods; the calories are just not coming from fat. If you really want to lose weight through a program you will need to dump the fat free products and eat small healthy snacks that are high in nutrition.

Schools of thought differ on this subject but many nutritionists agree that eating smaller meals with a snack every 3 to four hours or between meals could be beneficial providing main meals are not missed. The secret to natural weight loss is easy if you just obey it; do not eat more than your body requires through normal activities and exercise.

Let's now go back a little in time. It had been known for a long time that the aloe vera plant had remarkable healing properties. It seemed though, that once the aloe was processed commercially, it did not show the same health benefits as did the fresh, newly picked aloe.

It was during the early 1980s that a research pharmacologist was hired to attempt to isolate the medically active ingredient from the aloe vera plant. He set out to discover why the same benefits that were obvious with the freshly harvested plant, were not evident after processing.

After lengthy research it was discovered that the active ingredient in the aloe vera gel was a long chain carbohydrate made up, predominately, of a sugar called Mannose. Within a day or two of the aloe leaf being picked, this long-chain sugar molecule began to disintegrate, thus causing the gel to lose much of its effectiveness. This led to a new process being developed and patented, a process that protected this long-chain sugar from being destroyed. This new stabilized aloe extract was made available to the public as a juice, and testimonies soon began to flow in.

Stories were reported of improvements, after taking the new product, in the health of people with all kinds of problems. Scientists soon realized that they were on to something significant.

Not a lot was known at that time about this science of carbohydrate structuring and it was being taught at only one or two universities in the world. Before long, however, researchers all over the world began studying these carbohydrates and by 1990 there had been about 4000 papers published about this new science that became known as Glycobiology. It was named as one of the 'hottest' new fields of medical research, with a complete chapter of Harpers Biochemistry in 1996 being devoted to a review of these sugars, which were identified as being essential for cell-to-cell communication and immune function.

Of the 200 or so carbohydrate monosaccharides or sugars that are found in nature, only eight are biologically active and found to be critical to provide the structural support network and the cellular messaging system for our cells. These sugars or glyco-forms are necessary to keep our hormones in balance, to fight off disease invaders, to enable blood to clot and carry out other necessary functions of our cells. A good reason why they should be included in our diet, would you say?

If You Build It, Your Will Manifest Your Desires

One of the most powerful tools available to you when working with the Law of Attraction is a poster with your goals that you can hang on your wall. The reason for this is easy - any subconscious reminder of your desire that you will see day after day will further make clear your intent to the universe. So exactly what is a manifestation poster and how do you make one?

The simplest way to go about this is to buy yourself a nice large piece of poster board of whatever size you want to use. I like to use colored poster board, rather than basic white, but that's up to your preference. Now gather together some old magazines or newspapers you have lying around and start looking for pictures. You want pictures that represent what it is that you wish to attract. For instance, if you want a red convertible, find a picture of exactly the model you desire and cut it out. Make sure your pictures are as close to your desire as you can get, as this will ultimately affect the outcome. Magazines, newspapers, and your own real photos are all great sources for pictures and ideas.

Once you have gathered all of the pictures you intend to use, paste them to the poster board. You may wish to write under each one your actual intention, so if you want a new house and you paste a picture of a new house that you want, write "My New House" underneath the picture in a nice black marker. How you put them together is up to you - straight? Angled? Collage-style? It doesn't make any difference, just so long as your goals are represented in the pictures on your poster. You may find that you need more than one poster to hold all of the things you want to manifest!

Once your poster is complete, mount it in a place where you will see it several times each day. Perhaps on a office wall, in a hallway, on the back of your office door - anywhere you will see the picture daily. When you think about it, stop and examine your poster and think about your desires, while feeling expectant about what you have coming your way. However, even if you forget and never look at the poster again, as you pass it each day, it will register subconsciously. The subconscious is very powerful - manifestation happens easiest when the subconscious is on board rather than fighting. A poster is an excellent way of bypassing your subconscious resistance.

Most of all, when you see your poster you should feel happy. You should feel charged about the things that you are bringing into. This is probably the most important part of your poster - if it stirs up excitement in you, it will help you to manifest your intents very quickly. When combining this practice with a daily routine of visualizing yourself with your desires, you may find that you are manifesting far more quickly than you even thought possible!

What is Vitamin B3?

Vitamin B3 is a water-soluble vitamin that's part of the Vitamin B complex group. The two basic forms of Vitamin B3 are niacin (nicotinic acid) and niacinamide (nicotinamide). Vitamin B3 is used to make fat from the carbohydrates as well as to process alcohol. Niacin helps to regulate our cholesterol, but niacinamide does not. This is absolutely crazy what the pharmaceutical industry is trying to push through Congress now. Unfortunately, it seems to have made it through the House already, and now must be stopped at Senate level.

I know from personal experience what these drugs can do, and how they negatively affect a person, as well as a person's family. Luckily, I was not pregnant at the time, but for the 2 weeks that I listened to the doctor's, including when they DOUBLED all 3 of my meds, my daughter had a shadow of her mother. I stopped all of them myself a week after they were doubled, and never went back.

While I would not recommend anyone stopping their meds as abruptly as I did as this can be dangerous, even life threatening, we must realize that life gets hard at times, and most of us have the strength reserves within to make it through without the need for drugs.

These types of drugs have been behind almost every tragic shooting in our schools in the past decade. They can be blamed for many suicides in this country as well, and every day more and more evidence links SSRI's like Prozac with suicidal thoughts and violent behavior.

Now our government and the pharmaceutical giants want to give these dangerous drugs to mothers and their unborn babies. WHAT???

They do not even know what effect these drugs will have on the fetus, or how it will affect them as they get older.

PLEASE, take a few moments out of your day to check out the video of one mother who gained her life back against doctor's wishes, and sign her petition.

After all, I know many of you have been affected already, and those of you who have any plans in the future to have a baby, both of you could very well be affected against your will by this.

So, not only is the size of the pot important for the growth of your plant, but the color and style of the pot is important as well. Mixing the look of the plant with that of the pot can be a very creative venture that can either make you home look great or tacky. Careful choice is important.

For example, in bright, open corners of your home, a large plant will look great. It can be planted in a medium sized pot on a tall stand. A Sansevieria is one of the plants that would look nice here. Another option for this location is a palm. You can then place smaller plants that need shade beneath the shelter of the palm.

No matter what pots you choose the first time around, you should keep in mind that you will probably have to repot in a couple years. The plants will outgrow the pot, and it is unhealthy to keep a plant in a pot that is too small.

To avoid having to repot every plant at once, you should grow some plants from seeds or cuttings, while buying others that are young, and some that are mature. Also, you should buy some species that grow quickly and some that grow slow. You may have to repot a couple plants each year this way, instead of having the huge task of repotting everything at once. Repotting is all a part of caring for your indoor houseplants. Some plants can be repotted in the spring, and others in the fall. You can use pots from larger plants to plant the smaller ones that have now grown large enough for the large pots. This will keep you from needing to buy all new pots.

A separate advantage to this variety in plants is that you will have some plants flowering in the spring, others in the summer, and some in the fall. It will add color and pleasant scents to your home for more of the year--probably up to 6-8 months.

With proper planning, you will not have to exert a lot of time and effort to have a successful home garden.

7 Little-Known Traps that Stop You from Curing Your Back Pain

Long-term back pain is possibly the most misunderstood problem that you could have, and that's why your doctor or physio hasn't been able to help you. Except for one lone Australian researcher, whose work you're about to be introduced to, most doctors are chasing "red herrings".

Before I share one of the many techniques developed from this research, it's important that you thoroughly understand the 7 pain traps, because without understanding them and taking action, you'll reduce your chance of success.

Please don't underestimate these: there's been enough research now that we absolutely know that every one of them is crucial to understand and escape from.

TRAP 1

Becoming isolated. If you have pain you might not feel like mixing with people, and in the acute stage of pain it can be nice to have some peace and quiet and just rest and get better. But with long-term pain this isolation is incredibly destructive to you, because it damages your nervous system. You absolutely must mix socially with people.

TRAP 2

Being more or less inactive. You might be like most people with chronic pain and have a strong desire to refrain from being active. Maybe you've even tried it and it made things worse. Thing is, you can find a base rate of exercise which is manageable (even if it's tiny) and you can regularly and consistently increase it. When you do this, you can be confident the flaring is not related to the activity, and you can be confident you are helping your recovery, not working against it.

Balance is the key.

TRAP 3

Not being as independent as you possibly can. When you're dependent on others more than you need to be, you suffer (whether you know it or not) from higher stress levels. These stress levels sensitize your nervous system and increase your pain. So take a good look at what you allow others to do for you and think of ways around that. Also take a good look at your conversation with you're with family or friends. Are you saying the same things over and over each time you see them? Don't let them get in a rut either!

TRAP 4

Dumping interests or hobbies. You absolutely must keep an interest or hobby, whether you get enjoyment out of it or not. Your nervous system needs you to do it!

Likewise you need to be very aware of what's going on in the world around you, and to take an interest in that. Read papers and magazines, listen to talk-back radio, ask people their opinions. Involve yourself.

TRAP 5

Tolerating feelings of depression, anger, embarrassment or anxiety. These feelings put a lot of pressure on your nervous system and make it more reactive, leading to more pain. There are some really quite miraculous ways to switch these awful feelings off and give your nervous system a break!

TRAP 6

Lousy sleep. If you're not sleeping between 6 and 10 hours a night, if you're snoring, if your sleep is interrupted, if you're waking up feeling rotten, then these are signs your sleep has been compromised. Do yourself a favour and grab a book on "sleep hygiene" from your local library, and get whatever help you need to make sure your sleep supports your health and wellbeing.

TRAP 7

Inadequate nutrition. If you're overweight, or underweight, or tired a lot, chances are your nutrition needs an overhaul.

You might be thinking that these 7 traps are all common sense, but if they are just common sense, why hasn't your doctor paid close attention to them? Why aren't you already free of them? I really encourage you to look at them closely and make sure none of them ever trap you again.

NOW YOU CAN TEST OUT A NEW PAIN TREATMENT

The book "The Pain Train - Time to Get Off" tells you all the theory you'd want to know (and more) of the technique I'm going to share with you here. Basically, this technique "mixes up" the pain signals and over time permanently eliminates them so you become pain free.

Anything that "mixes up" pain signals has got to be at least a bit confusing, and I think you'll agree that this crazy-looking technique achieves that very successfully. But don't be fooled, this technique is getting rapid recognition from doctors all over the world. Here's a short taste.

Pick just one tiny point on your body where there is pain. Decide how strong that pain is out of 10. Focus your mind on that as strongly as you can. Just that point and no other point. If you like you can talk about it out loud or inside your head just to keep your mind on it. As you're doing that, start tapping, tickling, pinching, all over your body, at the same time imagining you have different kinds of food in your mouth, maybe chocolate, maybe bread and butter, maybe a piece of steak.

After a few minutes, stop and see if anything has happened to the pain in that one spot.

Be certain when you're checking that it's just that one little area that you're "measuring" to see what's happened. If you're like most people, you'll find there's been some kind of change. The pain won't necessarily be gone at this stage, but it will have changed in some way. The program is designed to reduce the pain until it doesn't return.

Flowering House Plants - Little Beauties

Some of these flowering beauties will require you to live in a warmer climate where they can grow outdoors as a part of the outdoor landscape, but not all.

Color Rules for Flowering Plants

Before you select any plant for use indoors - this goes for flowering and foliage plants you need to take some time to look at where the plant will be growing. Ask the question of the light requirements. Is there enough light for the plant?

Make the plant fit the location, not the location fit the plant!

As a novice knowing which plant fits what location can be a task on it's own. Here are a few tips to get started. Visit your local garden center and look for a sales associate who knows something about plants and can provide you with more advice than what you will find on a care tag.

Color Choices to Consider

Bromeliads: Vriesia, Guzmania, Cryptanthus, Aechmea and Neoreglia are the Latin names of genera all related to the pineapple family.

Bromeliads can fill a room with striking colors of red, hot pink, orange, purples, yellow and shades in between. Unlike cut flowers Bromeliads can light up a room for months.

Keep the "cup" filled with water, but let the soil media stay slightly moist. Watch out for overwatering! Dump the water in the reservoir and refill weekly. Combine several varieties in a basket or large bowl for a combo planter with different colors. Much like a living arrangement.

Achimenes

This member of the Gesneriad family blooms from spring and early summer through the fall.

After they finish showing off their blooms, reduce the lighting and water to allow the tops to dieback. Take the dormant rhizomes and store them at 60F degrees over the winter (you can leave them in pots). When spring hits, start to grow and/or propagate the tiny rhizomes by dividing then slowly increase water and light.

As for care during their growing season, treat them like African Violets. Also display Achimenes as you would an African violet.

Flame Violet - Episcia

The Episcia species is also a member of the Gesneriad family and produces tropical plantlets, which trail showing off brilliant patterned foliage and colorful flowers.

They grow best in an east-west exposure but are cold sensitive so keep temperatures between 65-70F degrees. They thrive in high humidity, but do not like it wet, try keeping the soil barely moist.

Otherwise culturally care for them like African violets.

Display them just as you would a potted African violet.

The Saintpaulia - African violet

Most of us can remember our grandmother growing this ever-popular house plant for years in her kitchen window. You can find hundreds of colorful varieties to choose from. African violets like a night temperature between of 65-70 degrees, with a rise in temperature during the day. Keep the soil evenly moist but not wet.

When watering, water the soil and not the foliage. If your African violet is not flowering it probably is due to the lack of light. Bright indirect light like a kitchen window is a great place to enjoy your plants, they also do well as a tabletop display.

Now you have no excuse as to not have some colorful flowering houseplants in your home.

You have to make sure you're eating all the right muscle building foods if your goal is to build more muscle. It's true: Just as there are certain kinds of foods make it easy for you to gain undesired weight, there are also certain foods that will help you gain muscle.

The first and most important step is to watch what you're feeding your body. Would you put just anything in your car's tank? If your body's fuel consists of fast food and processed junk, it's best to cut that out from your diet.

If anything, your diet is probably more important than your training. Scientists have actually claimed that muscle building consists of 15% training and 85% diet.

You only work out an hour or so a day, and during the other 20 something hours you are either eating, sleeping, or working, right? Well, doesn't it make sense to watch what you are eating since you spend more time eating than working out?

When you're about to build some muscle, protein is the most important component in muscle building foods. You'll find this in food like chicken, eggs, fish, and red meat. They are packed full of protein, which you need for energy.

Believe it or not, you also need to consume fat as part of your muscle building foods. Natural fat, none of that processed junk. You can find the good fat in steak, eggs, and peanut butter.

When you're consuming fats, make sure you avoid trans fat. It's evil, because it doesn't benefit your body in any way and could in fact harm you.

Carbohydrates, otherwise known as carbs, are the last of the three muscle building foods. You should be eating complex carbs throughout the day to keep up your energy.

Oatmeal, whole grain pasta, and brown rice are all complex carbohydrates that will keep your sugar levels in balance and give you the energy you need for your workouts.

But remember this isn't just something you need to incorporate into your working life. Also try to concentrate on the things you do best when it comes to your leisure and family time.

Acne And Diet There Are Other Issues As Well

Although some people believe that acne is caused by them eating the wrong kinds of foods this is not the only reason for a person developing it. In fact as you will see below acne and diet issues are really very low down on the list for what is actually causing the condition in the first place. As well as looking at the causes we look at how it can be treated.

Even today we are still not sure what is the main cause for a person to suffer from acne. Doctor's will often look at a number of different factors in order for them to come up with the most appropriate kind of treatment for dealing with this skin condition. Below we will look at just what the factors are that doctors look at closely and which they feel contribute towards a person developing acne.

1. Sebaceous Glands Which Are Overactive - These are to be found located deep underneath the skins surface and produce an oil called sebum. As hormonal changes take place in a person's body so often the amount of oil that these glands produce increases. Often a person's body finds it difficult to cope with this excess oil and their skins pores become blocked with the result that acne begins to develop.

2. The Skins Pores Have Become Blocked - Again this relates to the sebaceous glands in a person's body producing excessive amounts of oil. Acne often occurs because the oil (sebum) which the glands are producing is not able to flow freely to the skins surface and this ends up becoming trapped. Once the oil becomes trapped over time then white or blackheads begin to form on the skins surface.

3. Normal Bacteria Activity On The Skin - Although acne is not actually caused because of a bacterial infection, they do play a major part in increasing the severity of the condition. On our skin is a bacterium known as Propionibacterium Acnes which prevents outside bacterial infections from being absorbed into the body. Generally this bacterium is able to cope with the levels of oil produced by the sebaceous glands. But when these levels increase a chemical reaction is caused which causes a person's skin to become irritated and inflamed and results in acne developing.

4. Skin Inflammation - As you will have seen from above all the factors we have previously listed will result in a person's skin becoming inflamed which is often a major sign of acne developing. Yet there is another reason for why a person's skin has become inflamed. It is their immune system is trying to fight whatever it is that is irritating the skin in the first place.

Above we have taken a look at what are the main contributory factors for a person suffering from acne. Yes if a person has the correct diet then they will find that the chances of them suffering from acne or other skin problems are greatly reduced. However if you do find yourself suffering from this skin problem there are plenty of treatments one can use.
