Post menopause. Your body is not producing estrogen now, but there may be small amounts present in your system due to your fat cells breaking down androstenedione, which is better known as a male hormone.

See, when they said it was what is on the inside that counts, they weren't kidding. Body fat, which resides under the surface, is really what threatens your health and increases your prospect for weight-related health problems.

The way to properly measure body fat is with a body fat monitor. This device can tell us what we need to know.

A body fat monitor measures body fat without the help of a doctor or specialist. In very general terms, it analyzes the composition of our body by calculating biometric impedance. As sophisticated as it sounds, the device is actually quite easy to use.

A body fat monitor works by sending an electrical signal through your body and measuring the resistance. Just as it is easier to cut through water than through jello, the electrical signal knows that people with high fat and muscle content have higher body water content as well. Knowing this, the monitor measures total body water and then calculates the body's fat-free mass. Finally, it comes up with an approximate body fat figure by calculating the difference while taking into account your body weight.

Unfortunately, picking a body fat monitor has become a difficult task. There are plenty on the market and prices range from less than $30 to just over $750. Luckily, almost all of them are extremely easy to use, so with some basic training even your children can start taking an interest in their body fat measurements.

The basic features you should consider are whether your body fat monitor can make simple calculations like daily caloric intake and perform basic weight monitoring calculations. You should also look for a model that comes with the option of changing settings (e.g. from child to adult, from athletic to moderately athletic to non-athletic, and so on). While seemingly unimportant when you get started, these features can make a difference in how well the monitor performs over a longer period of time, particularly as your habits shift (our activity levels tend to change over time). As well, the more accurate a reading is, the more it will help you remain focused with your longer-term fitness objectives.

Most fitness experts agree that your abdominals help to support and protect your spine, and thus, they must never be fatigued before doing any non ab exercises such as, chins, rows, deadlifts and squatting movements. These "experts" state that when your abs are fatigued, you are at a greater risk of acquiring a back injury. Based on this, the entire fitness industry insists that you must only do your ab training at the end of your workout.

The problem is that this training philosophy goes against one of the most basic workout truths: the Priority Principle. This principle simply states that what gets trained first will get the best training effect. Why would this principle work for every other body part in the human body except your abs?

What if getting a set of six pack abs is your number one priority? What if your abs happen to be your weakest body part?

In these cases, they should be trained at the beginning of your workout when you are in your freshest state.

So I suggest this alteration to your workout: if abs are your priority, work them out first! This simple adjustment in training sequence will make a huge difference in your results. You will have much greater focus when working your abs, and be able to put forth a significantly better effort while training them, since you will be totally fresh.

If you are used to just throwing in a couple of abdominal sets at the end of your workout, you will literally double your rate of progress towards developing your six-pack.

Additionally, prioritized ab training will also provide a great warm up for the workout to follow. I do have one exception to this rule. If you are training with maximal weights, I would opt to train the abs at the end of the workout. Performing any activity that could leave you with residual fatigue prior to a maximal weights workout would be undesirable.

Carcinoma in situ is an abnormal cell growth/development inside either the milk ducts or the lobules without spreading to surrounding tissue, hence the term "in situ" which means "in place". As long as the abnormal cells remain in the milk ducts or lobules the condition is classified as carcinoma in situ. Ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) and lobular carcinoma in situ (LCIS) are the two primary sub-categories that we will examine.

DCIS is a disease where abnormal cells begin growing in the hollow areas of the mammary ducts. These abnormal cells carry a strong resemblance to those of invasive cancer - DCIS can actually become invasive cancer if left untreated. It is because of this reason that it is very important to frequently perform self examinations.

When the abnormal cell growth occurs in the open spaces of the lobules it is called lobular carcinoma in situ (LCIS). This is different from DCIS because it is in a different area and the cells do not have the potential to grow into invasive cancer. However, it has been proven that women who have LCIS are at higher risk of having invasive cancer.

Invasive cancer is when these abnormal cells/tumor spread into surrounding breast tissues and organs. However, invasive cancer could still only be confined to the breast area. If invasive cancer is detected in its early stage, it can be treated with successful outcomes. But in more advanced stages, where the tumor has grown to affect other organs such as the liver, lungs, and bones treatment have lower success rates.

If a woman finds a lump, it is extremely important to get it checked out, the odds of it being invasive cancer is about 20%. She can do this by either getting a mammogram or a biopsy. The mammogram will provide additional information about the size and severity of the tumor. And if necessary, a biopsy will be taken, which can give a physician definitive answers on what type of cancer and its severity.

It all starts to matter when we become teenagers and we begin to take note of our looks and the way others look. We are all too aware of the comparisons that are made.

Getting into the right way of eating when we are young is very important. We don't have too much say in the matter, so we trust those who look after us to make the right judgements. Unfortunately, many don't get the right diet - for a variety of reasons.

To be overweight in your early twenties is not a good thing to be. You are probably not aware of what made you overweight and you have very little idea of how you are going to change matters.

With loads of bad habits, many of which will have been deeply engrained, it is difficult to make change. It can come from developing an awareness of what needs to be changed. Many of the habits will have been learned in childhood and will be a challenge to break.

Change can be made easier by not going against the norm, but by learning new habits - slim habits, if you like. New habits will enable change to take place without having to directly confront the past.

The skin is the largest organ in human body; it is the covering that protects our insides from the harsh world outside. Skin protects our organs from being open to all the nasty bugs in the outside that want to get inside. Problems with the skin can leave the internal organs open to all kinds of infections. The health of your skin is a reflection of the health of your insides.

Skin has two layers, epidermis, dermis and then there is the subcutaneous fat layer, the inner layer.

The Epidermis The epidermis is the outer, visible layer of the skin. A large percent of the cells in the epidermis are keratinocyte cells, they make a sturdy, well-built, protein called keratin. On the bottom layer of the epidermis melanocyte cells make a dark pigment called melanin. This is melanogenesis, melanin is in the skin, eyes, and hair. Melanin gives the skin color that protects it from the sun's ultraviolet rays. The epidermis without melanin is translucent, it allows light to pass through it. It does not have a blood supply or nervous supply; it gets oxygen and nutrition from the layers of skin below it.

The Dermis The dermis layer lies just below the epidermis. The dermis layer has nerve endings, blood vessels and hair roots; it also has oil glands, sebaceous glands and sweat glands. Blood vessels in the dermis provide nourishment to the skin cells in the epidermis and help keep the body's temperature within range. Temperature changes that can influence the sensitive organs below stimulate nerves to tell the body to warm up or cool down.

Sweat glands help to keep our body's temperature from getting too high. Sweat also helps our body flush out nasty toxins that pile up if they don't get out in someway. Sweat is antibacterial to keep microorganism from getting deeper.

Sebaceous glands are all over human skin except in the palms of the hands and soles of the feet. The sebaceous glands open into hair follicles to give your hair shine and nutrients. Too much nutrition and your hair will get oily. The sebaceous glands deposit sebum on the hair, this comes to the skin's surface up the hair shaft. Clumps of fat filled cells called adipose cells make up the subcutaneous fatty layer. Adipose cells store energy in the form of fat. Adipose cells are also around internal organs, and in the bone marrow in depots called adipose depots. Adipose tissue's main reason for being is to be a reserve of lipids, which your body burns for energy. This layer is a different thickness in different place for each person.

The subcutaneous fatty layer contains larger blood vessels and nerves. The subcutaneous fat lies on the muscles and bones. The attachment is a little loose; this gives it all room to move. Too much fat in the subcutaneous tissues and you get cellulite.

Stretching; fact or fantasy? Does stretching achieve anything that is real, or is it merely a nice thing to do before getting into any demanding activity? To add a little more weight to this debate, we should throw in the issues of why, when and how a person should do this debatable thing known as stretching. In the process, we will project a bit of useful light in the space we have, on a few issues that once understood, have had life-changing effects on back and neck pain sufferers all around the world.

To begin with, there is the question of why a person should stretch? When performed effectively, stretching accomplishes a number of physiological and anatomical functions. Stretching equates to exactly half of the essential elasticity factor necessary for soft tissue, particularly muscles, to function as they need to. When we lack elasticity, in other words, the capacity for muscles to lengthen and shorten, the joint [or joints] that a muscle crosses, cannot achieve the movement that particular joint is capable of, and when a joint fails to function, pain usually results.

Exercise, particularly resistance exercise, produces the other 50%. This is due almost entirely to the fact that resistance exercises, by the very nature of the way in which the mechanics of muscles operate, produce a capability for the joint to create movement by shortening its length across that joint [or joints]. Some risk factors for women include being an Ashkenazi Jew, being age 50 or older, having at least two relatives with a history of ovarian cancer, and a history of exposure to multiple fertility drugs. Women who fall within these categories should be cognizant of what constitutes early symptoms of ovarian cancer.

Having regular gynecological check-ups are important for any woman's health. Immediate medical attention should be sought for symptoms that are present for greater than a few weeks. It is also important to realize that what may seem to be early symptoms of ovarian cancer may be something else entirely. These symptoms can also indicate ovarian cysts, irritable bowel syndrome, or another condition that a medical examination would be able to detect.

It is very important for women to know the early symptoms of ovarian cancer, in order to stop this deadly disease in its tracks. Since more than 6% of cancer deaths in women are a result of ovarian cancer, women and their doctors must remain vigilant at all times.

If he did not believe this then to sail into the unknown would be an act of lunacy. This is a choice that we all must make.

If you don't believe me, then look it up for yourself. In fact two thirds of all millionaires in the US have gotten their money through owning a business, and a high percentage of them are home based business. This is an amazing fact. It's power is most revealed by the fact that the ability to make money online is still extremely new. In fact the internet itself is still very new. So now we know that most people do not have the knowledge necessary to form the belief that it is really possible to become financially free through home business. But instead of having to be the first ones to sail uncharted waters, we now know that there is a multitude of people who have already been successful doing this. It's in accepting this knowledge, that the enjoyment of this kind of business becomes possible.

I remember,years ago, attending a very interesting weekend workshop put on by a great example of what I'm talking about, with a man named T. Harv Ecker. The weekend was dubbed, The Millionaire Mind, and I got much more than I bargained for. In all honesty, I went into it with a lot of skepticism. I was back then, definitely a believer in the safest thing being " it is a flat earth". I'd also never really let myself think that I could be wealthy.. One of the incredible ideas presented there, was that when you become successful ,you stay successful ,and get more successful by helping others do the same. Now if you've never heard that idea, sit back and let it linger a moment, because it's a whopper. That is also the reason that owning a home business can be such a rewarding thing to do. Imagine yourself, never having to worry about bills, or unexpected expenses, but instead living, and eating ,and vacationing as you want, when you want,and where you want. It's a wonderful vision, but what could be the icing on the cake? Well, how about knowing that your money to live that way, comes from helping other people achieve the same results. Could it get any better?

There's a great book that everyone should read called ,"Why We Want You To Be Rich" co-authored by Donald Trump and Robert Kiyosaki, that details everything I'm saying, and more. Not only do they say that it is possible to become wealthy through Internet/home business, but claim as I do, that it's the single biggest source for most people to do so. The book is title "Why We Want You To Be Rich", because the most important thing they address is, that far too many people are filling out the lower income levels in society, while fewer and fewer are taking up the top notch. This is not only unnecessary, but it's down right damaging to society as a whole. There are many studies out there finding the middle class disappearing ,while the lower income jobs increase. This is not because there's less money to be made. It just that there is fewer people making the money. But it doesn't need to be the case. In one of my other articles (which are all available on my blog) I point out that most people let someone, or something, (like a company) dictate the majority of there lives. Well, in the past, this made more sense ,as jobs with good pay and benefits were much more readily available. Now, however, I believe, Wal-Mart is the biggest employer in the states. And in case you didn't know, Wal-Mart does not pay well.

Where does all this lead? Well, I'd have to say it doesn't have to lead anywhere. It just points out, that there is a choice.

At this point you must ask yourself two questions, first is, "When I imagine myself financially free is that something I'm willing to pursue? That's usually easy. It's the second question that is the kicker. " Am I willing to do whatever it takes!

I like to keep in mind that the universe, as best we can tell is, infinite. This says to me, at least metaphorically, that there's infinite potential out there. Something else I like to keep in mind is that being financially free does not mean having billions or trillions of dollars. It's a concept ,not a number. In fact, some people might find themselves financially free with just $1 million dollars. It all depends on what you want,and what you need, being met without any major stress, and there can be no doubt that there is billions of dollars out there to be made. It's simply a matter of becoming committed to making it work, and that is both the hardest and easiest thing in the world. to achieve that goal?" Now, I must throw in at this point that it NEVER means doing anything unethical or illegal, NEVER. Regardless of your personal beliefs, everybody can agree that something like karma exists, or what you sow you reap, meaning if you know what your doing is wrong in some way, it will only lead to undesired results. If ,however, you can answer those questions with a "Yes I am willing to pursue that goal and am willing to whatever it takes", then let me welcome you to the path of wealth and abundance. Now, comes the part you have been taking all those shots for. You will have the fertilized eggs implanted into your body. This will happen after some time in the lab where the fertilization and the beginning development of the embryo takes place. You will most likely get more than one fertilized egg, which actually has begun developing into an embryo, placed back into your uterus. One possibility with the remaining embryos is to have them frozen for when this cycle does not give you the hoped for result of a pregnancy. You will get more injections at this point as well.

Your chances of success will depend upon many things. Did the doctor do a careful and carefully placed implantation meaning is he experienced enough? However, all the eggs that were not implanted can be frozen for a future implantation...if you want to go through all the shots and what they do to you again. There will be added risks to you and your child by using IVF. You will want to do some research online to make sure you are aware of these.

Add to all of the above the success rates of each individual course of treatments. Depending upon where you look it is from a 10 - 30% chance you will get pregnant. Higher percentages for more embryos being implanted.

You will need to learn more about IVF in order to make the best decision but you can see that a tubal reversal surgery just might be a better choice. Starting with success rates for tubal reversal you will find it varies with the doctor you choose. Actually most will only give you the industry wide statistics because they don't collect their own nor know them. Chris Gibson has created Acne Free In 3 Days and it's raised quite a lot of attention, negative and good. Many say it's crap, while others say it's changed their lives. So instead of following what others are saying about the book I got my self a copy and have decided to write my thoughts on it.

Acne Free in 3 Days does make sense, but what does he mean?

In a nutshell it works. The methods in Acne Free in 3 Days are pretty similar to what I used when I got over my acne.

The Acne Free In 3 Days method is a complete body cleansing experience with a proven detox-cure, used under a 3 day period. While doing this detox (which is kind of weird) you need to apply a tropical product diet so that you get rid of your toxins faster.

Acne Free in 3 Days is also quite short and information is laid out in a clear manner. So you don't need to waste time on reading and learning too much. Instead you can focus on applying. And application is where the clear skin is.

Short means shallow, but thorough?

However the downside of short is that it can't go very deep. Even though the method works I would have liked to see some more depth. People who are new to this might not believe that Chris's method actually works. Naturally the best way to find out is to try it yourself.

Maybe the biggest downfall of the book is that it provides only little information on how to remain acne free. Chris provides some suggestions and gives a list on foods to avoid. Since changing your lifestyle is the hardest step in curing your acne, I would have liked to see some more discussion on that.

So, the question remains... Do You want to be acne free in 3 days?

The final thoughts are that acne free in 3 days is a great book to have in your anti acne collection. If you want to really get rid of acne, but are not interested in natural health or keeping yourself fully healthy, then you must have acne free in 3 days. The book won't bore you with facts about why the method works, but it will clear your acne fast with a method that works... and the best part is that you can repeat it as often as you like.

I tried Chris's method. After two days of detoxing with his method, my girlfriend was amazed on how well my skin had cleared. She told me that my skin is shining so much that I don't need lights in the room anymore. I'm sure we can all forgive her for her bad humor, but it just goes on saying that his methods work.

As to using your emotional intelligence in the workplace, think of it as a way to get to listen to what other people are thinking. Because you can somewhat "read" other people's minds by taking note of their body language and facial expressions, this gives you a competitive advantage in a situation where you are arranging a contract or doing other types of negotiations. Indeed, if you watch someone's face as he or she reads a contract, you can often find out what they think of it as they're reading it, because their emotions may be unguarded in this context.

If you are in a leadership position or are about ready to move into one, this is another part of emotional intelligence you can use. Simply, it's "charisma" or your ability to lead people. If you have a high EQ, you know how to read people so that you can make them work most effectively. You know if someone needs a bit more pressure put on them to work through problem, and you know how to read subordinates' body language well enough that you can step in and offer assistance, encouragement, or a word of appreciation.

Emotional intelligence is somewhat useful in public speaking, but works best in small group and one on one situations. It appears to be something that can be enhanced by practice, but it has finite limits in how far it can be pushed.

All businesses, of course, value people who can "get along well with others." However, emotional intelligence's model indicates that this isn't necessarily something you can learn. Whether or not that's true, being aware of how you fit in on the emotional intelligence scale and being aware of what both your abilities and limitations are as you use this ability to advance your career or to better serve your clients with your own business can only help you.

You need to wash your face enough to keep the pores from getting clogged. Do not wash your face more than two or three times a day, or you will stimulate your glands to produce more oil. If your face feels dry your glands will produce more oil.

Use a pure soap without artificial additives. Avoid the use of harsh soaps or cleansers. If you need to, try a lightly medicated soap. Use hot water when washing your face then finish with cold water. Always check the ingredients of the oily skin care product before you take it home. Be careful when you pick your cleanser or soap. Harsh astringents strip your skin of oil; you do not want to let your skin dehydrate. When your skin dehydrates your pores restrict blocking oil flowing out.

If washing with soaps make the problem worse or if your skin is sensitive try washing your face in warm salty water. Another skin care treatment you can try is mixing fresh squeezed lemon juice from one lemon with one cup of water. Strain this and pour it into a spray bottle, spray your face and let it to dry, then rinse your face with warm water. Finish with a cold water rinse. This should get the oil off your face without irritating it.

Not all skin care treatments work the same for all people; you need to find a skin care product that helps you care for your oily skin without being harsh. Natural skin care products work the best because they are not as rough on delicate skin.

Diet for Oily Skin Eat green vegetables and fresh fruits, don't eat meat, meat slows your digestion and makes it harder for your body to flush out the fats. Stay away from alcohol. Alcohol makes the liver work harder. This keeps it from doing the job of removing toxins. Toxins build up and sit in your fat, organs and your skin. Make sure you are getting the necessary vitamins and minerals. Get your blood tested; find out what you might lack. If you do not want to get your blood tested, at least take a good multivitamin. Cut down on the fat you eat; do not eat fried foods or any foods you know are high fat. Do not cook with or any heat processed oils, use cold pressed canola or olive oil only. Do not drink soft drinks, stay away from sugar, and junk food.

One of the best natural skin care products for your insides and your outsides is Aloe vera. Drink the juice and smear the jell all over you. Tomato is a great astringent; tomatoes tone the skin, but don't dry it out like astringent skin treatments that.are not natural. Slice the tomato and put it on your face, or crush it and mix it with cooked oatmeal. Let it dry and wash it off.

If your face dehydrates from washing to much, apply a mixture of just about any mashed melon, Aloe vera gel and cooked oatmeal. Rinse it off with warm water after it dries. Watermelon makes a great natural cleanser crushed and smeared onto the skin. Wash it off with water after it sits a bit.

Mix honey with one grated carrot and smooth it on your face. Wash it off with water after it sits a bit. Carrot essential oil is extracted from carrots, it has skin protection qualities from the carotenoids and other antioxidants. Carrot oil is good for keeping your skin from getting dry and chapped. Never put any pure essential oil straight on your skin, you want to mix it with an oil like almond oil. Almond oil is not a greasy oil, it soaks into skin well, leaves only a slight residue and goes well with carrot essential oil.

There are many wrinkle cream products currently available. Choosing a single product from such an assortment can be a daunting task, indeed. Confusing choices might give you more gray hair than when you started!

While you might be aging, you're most likely getting wiser, too. Your wisdom has taught you that a little research can go a long way to making smart, educated selections in overwhelming situations. The next few paragraphs won't list the advantages or disadvantages of specific products, but it will cover some of the important factors to consider when you're shopping for wrinkle cream. As a researcher and autistic survivor, I can state that children with autism can hear sounds above the average person hearing range. Although high pitch sounds cannot be heard normally, to an autistic child these sounds can cause intense inner ear pain.

How do autistic kids cope with this intense pain? Covering or slapping their ears or in extreme cases, banging their head against the wall in an effort to knock the pain out.

Genet's parents didn't see this as pain and he wasn't able to verbalize his ears hurt.

"I was isolated in my own world where this pain existed. I saw the world from the inside out. I was not able to cross over to a proper reality." Genet has surmised that this self isolation was caused by the inability for his brain to ground to its physical body.

Genet furthers explains, "My brain's inability to ground to its physical body didn't allow me to complete the pathway or circuit into a normal reality. In the world I lived in, I spoke properly, maintained mental focus, emotional balance and occasionally felt this inner ear pain.

In a normal reality, people can filter out these sounds, protecting them from this intense inner ear pain. I could not. " I wasn't able to travel back and forth between a normal reality and the only reality I knew, due to this lack of grounding. I wasn't able to create any mental, emotional or physical filters that would protect me from these high pitch sounds.

"There are two causes why his brain could not ground to his physical body" states Genet

1) The chemical preservatives in his childhood vaccinations reeked havoc on his brain's ability to form proper brain wave frequencies needed for this grounding to occur.

2) Things at home, out in a mall, florescent lighting, microwave ovens, TV's, computers, electronic equipment, flying in airplanes and driving in a car. The electro magnetic fields of energy interferes with the brain's circuitry.

First Aid Techniques for Hikers

Hiking is an exhilarating activity but since you're in rugged terrain and climbing steep grades there is a greater chance of injury. While odds are slim that you'll need it, knowing some basic advanced first aid should be a high priority. It's not just the increased risks of hiking but since you'll probably be far away from medical facilities, knowing your first aid is essential and can save a life.

If you're helping someone seriously injured the first thing to do is call out for help from other hikers. Even if you know your first aid, other hikers can assist in first aid and get help find a ranger. If you have one, try calling 911 from a cell phone; service areas sometimes reach into hiking areas.

Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation or CPR is a simple but lifesaving technique that restarts breathing and heart activity. Training classes are free and your place of work or a community center should have information. CPR is administered by ensuring the airway is clear and breathing into the mouth at intervals while watching for chest expansion. This may restart breathing but if not, chest compressions along the sternum are necessary. Again a class is necessary for properly learning CPR.

The Heimlich Maneuver can save a life if something gets lodged in the throat or windpipe. Usually a person will be unable to talk, turn blue, and have their hands around their neck in a choking gesture. Stand the person up, wrap your arms around their waist and clasp your one wrist with the other hand. Now give them a sharp inward jerk with your arms and hands between the ribcage and diaphragm. If the person is passed out and laying down then place him or her face up, straddle the person, place one hand over the over and give short, sharp thrusts in the same place (between the ribcage and the diaphragm). Repeat until the object is dislodged.

Due to rough and sometimes slippery terrain, a fall resulting in a fracture may occur. Some fractures are not major and may just cause discomfort. Compound fractures however, are more serious and are indicated by bone protruding through the skin. Not only must the limb be immobilized but since there is a flesh wound, the loss of blood must minimized. Wrap the wound with bandages and do not try to straight the bone. If help is not available, immobilize the limb by using branches and vines to make a splint.

Again, the odds are slim that an accident will happen while hiking but it's always better to error on the side of caution and learn the necessary first aid whether hiking a simple trail or climbing mountains in Benidorm.

Karaoke has become a favourite amongst all age groups ,although the ones that may recognize the least about it are the seniors. Notwithstanding in a sense they know more about it then the younger ones. Years ago this golden age group, were in the habit of getting together at a party or a cabaret and singing all the old golden songs and songs they grew up with. The only thing genuinely missing was the player.

With the birth of karaoke came the birth of a lot of self self-confidence. Individuals that normally would be too shy to get up and sing before a crowd, seem to find it much easier if others are going to do it as well.

Karaoke was launched in Japan. Theres a narrative going around that a bar owner had engaged some entertainment that didnt show up. So out of despair he put on some records and enquired in anyone desired to sing. As the story goes, the night was a massive success and thus the birth of this great activity. The citizens of Japan specially enjoy doing hit songs from the Beatles and Elvis. They have adjusted quite a liking for midwestern music. This is a solid bonus for established exchange pupils. In addition it is a wonderful aid for brushing up the English language.

In the very beginning it was rather a simple system. One would just put a tape on and someone would sing along with it. Then it went up onto videos with computer graphics. Eventually now the more sophisticated version is the karaoke system that consists of a mike and a TV screen to observe along the song with. Much like when we were children and would witness a song on tv and sing along by following the bouncing ball.

An entertaining problem that had to be worked out in Japan was the dissonance element. The homes are posited very close together in that land, so an individual singing at the top of his lungs could be quite a beguilement for the neighbors, no matter how great the vocalist was. To work out that issue they forged the karaoke box. In fact the first packages were railway cars that manage to contain the music quite nicely.

Karaoke seems to be a genuine ice breaker. Where individuals may not normally socialise with each other. it appears an individual getting up and singing gives the way to conversation. If your compost pile is not moist like a sponge would be, then you should water it yourself as it is not getting enough of this from the rain.

Another great way to help them out is buy cutting up your waste food before hand. Cut the rotten apple or banana in half means that they will be eaten a lot easier by the micro organisms and so the speed with which your composting pile is created can pick up incredibly.

For this article we look at another problem. And unlike the first problem this may be built into the system. One could argue it was intentionally built into the system.

Whether it is or not, it still causes me great anguish. Bedside care givers, be they phlebotomist, dietitians, x-ray techs or nurses all try hard to provide quality care. But it seems to me that once the patient is discharged the billing and coding department have little regard for patient's well being.

I have seen and audited a great many hospital and medical bills. So even though that last statement about billing seems bold I am still dumbfounded with the blatant excesses I see on the bills.

As we explore bills in the coming weeks, I will show you how the bills are worded and set up. It is not with ease of understanding upper most.

But beyond that here is a quote from the American Hospital Association on billing practices as aired on CBS News 60 Minutes. "Actually, what hospitals charge for a service is the same for everybody, whether they have insurance or not. What's confusing for everybody is that what a person ends up paying in this country can be very different," says Carmela Coyle, The senior vice president for policy for the American Hospital Association.

Huh? You mean that a portable chest x-ray costs the same for every person in the country but we may all end up paying different amounts?

Clear as mud right? And that is what I mean by the problem is inherent in the system.

Lets try to break it down. Every hospital has a master list of charges, it is called the "charge master". That list contains the prices for all the services and supplies in the hospital. But when patients are billed some are given discounts from the full Charge Master price.

It is not like a grocery store however that publishes their specials every week. Hospitals keep the actual Charge Master secret. So Dr. Gerald Anderson, who helped first draft Medicare, says, "That information isn't available to you. In the hospital sector, you can't do any comparative shopping. And because you can't do comparative shopping, the hospital has no reason to control prices." But good news that is beginning to change.

I would call Dr. Anderson an expert on this. He helped the government draft the rules Medicare uses to reimburse hospitals for services. So his assessment is valuable, and asked why hospitals can do this Dr. Anderson said in part "... essentially, they can get away with it."

You may think this will never happen to you, after all you have insurance and are in good health. But one day it will just as it did with Richard Clarke. And perhaps it is good it did happen to him because he began the Patient Friendly Billing project.
